From there, you will be treated to a stunning view that stretches from the peaks of the Pyrenees to the Atlantic Coast.

The Picos Mountains, Potes and the Fuente Dé Cable Car

The Picos de Europa is a compact range of limestone mountains, no more than 30 miles long and 15 miles wide, not far from Spain's northern coast which is home to stunning views, beautiful flora and fauna, impressive canyons and gorges including the famous Garganta de Cares, a gorge that is over 1 mile deep at points and 10 miles long and piquant blue cheeses, such as Queso de Cabrales, which are traditionally matured in the local caves, some of which can stretch over a mile below the surface.

Within the mountain range is the small town of Potes which is well supplied with shops bars and restaurants, perfect for a lunch stop.

Within 28km from Potes is the cable car of Fuente Dé, which holds the record for the largest unsuported Cable Car in the world, with its hair raising 800m climb up a sheer rock face to the summit at 1847m. From the Mirador del Cable station at the top, you are treated to a truely breath taking view of the Picos de Europa.
