Along with the Ice Trail, York has many other attractions for you to enjoy, such as:
Discover a masterpiece in stained glass and stone at York Minster.
One of the largest and most beautiful cathedrals in Northern Europe, with a rich history and culture dating back to the 7th Century, York Minster houses stunning stained glass, a cavernous nave that took over 60 years alone to complete, a central tower large enough to fit the leaning tower of Pisa inside with a viewing platform that looks out over the city at the top of 275 steps and the Undercroft Museum that displays over 2000 years of York's history, back to the remains of Roman barracks and other artefacts never before on public display.
One of the world's most famous streets, the Shambles features preserved medieval buildings, some dating back as far as the 14th century.
The street is narrow, with many timber-framed buildings with jettied floors that overhang the street by several feet.
Originally home to York's butchers (the street was originally known as "The Great Flesh Shambles" likely due to a translation from Anglo Saxon, rather than anything more gruesome!) the street is now filled with independant retails, although one butcher still remains!
The Jorvik Centre is a must see attraction that has welcomed over 20 million visitors through its doors over the past 30 years and it's not hard to see why.
You can experience what life was like in the city over 1,000 years ago, with realistic scenes, sounds, smells and knowledable staff ready to answer your questions.
Learn about the amazing artefacts that were discovered during the archaeological excavations, such as jewellery, pottery, coins, bones and more!
